You & Your Hamster
Hamsters have an average lifespan of around 3 years, so make a great pet especially for kids. They can be nippy when you first get them, but soon adapt and get used to their handler.

Syrian Hamsters have to live singular, but Russian and Chinese hamsters are happy to live in groups. So when buying, make sure you know what type of hamster it is you are getting.
You should give your hamster a mix of specific hamster food. Aquamania recommends Supreme's Harry Hamster Food, both of which supply the essentials that your hamster will need.
You should also supply your hamster with chewing items, such as old toilet roll tubes and wooden chews. This is because their teeth constantly grow and they need a variety of things to chew on in order to wear their teeth down.
All hamsters can be nippy when you get them, but they get used to you very quickly. The best way to make your hamster happier around you is by sitting in the bathtub with them and let it crawl all over you. Do this for about 20 minutes per day and try to gently stroke it's back if it will let you. Eventually it will become more tame.
