Halibut and trout pellets are too hard to pass a hook through so they're best presented on a hair rig. It's not as easy as it sounds though but follow our expert step-by-step guide and you can't go wrong.

1. Apart from pellets, you'll need a baiting drill, baiting needle, hair stops and a lighter
|
2. Hard pellets are easy
to crack so before drilling, heat the end of the drill with a lighter
|
3. You can then carefully drill through the pellet but make sure you go right through the centre
|
4. A fine baiting needle
is required. Once
through, pull the hair
back through the hole
|
5. Once the hair is in
place, carefully place your hair rig stop in the small loop to secure it
|
6. There it is. Halibut pellets in particular are deadly for barbel so get out there and give them a go!
