You & Your Zebra Mice
Keeping Zebra Mice is very different from keeping regular mice, they require more care than other species and live for 2 years on average.

Zebra mice are VERY quick and are not suitable for young children. They are very difficult to handle due to their speed and the fact that they jump around all the time.
You should NEVER grab this species of mouse by the tail, as it is very painful to them and may result in their tail falling off. Another difference is that this species of mouse do not give off an offensive odour like other mice.
Zebra Mice should really be kept in a glass cage as they can chew and escape from regular mice and hamster cages quite easily. You should not put woolly bedding in for your zebra mice as this can cause irritation. Aspen bedding, though primarily used for reptiles, is more suitable for your zebra mice.
You should feed your mice on a mix of seeds and grain, but they should not be given too many sunflower seeds as they are very fattening. A wild bird mix is probably most suitable for zebra mice.
You can also give your zebra mice the following fresh foods:
Apples
Carrots
Mealworms
and broccoli.
